Like that machine, the mini has a fan for cooling, but it also has the most efficiently cooled chassis of all the new M1 Macs. But the Apple M1 chip stays the same no matter which configuration you choose, and it matches the one in the new 13-inch MacBook Pro. The review unit I received costs $1,299, as it increases the SSD size to 1TB and doubles the memory. For that money, you get an eight-core CPU, eight-core GPU, 256GB of storage, and 8GB of RAM. (It’s also worth noting that Apple was using the mini as its early Arm test unit for developers, so the company was already partway to a consumer product.)Īpple has dropped the starting price for the M1-powered Mac mini down to $699, which is $100 less than before. #DO I NEED TO USE A APPLE MONITOR FOR MAC MINI UPGRADE#Apple opened new possibilities for the mini with the big upgrade it got in 2018, and two years later, it’s one of the first three Macs to transition away from Intel processors and showcase the potential of Apple silicon and the M1 chip. #DO I NEED TO USE A APPLE MONITOR FOR MAC MINI PROFESSIONAL#Sure, most people go for the traditional experience and plug in a display, mouse, and keyboard - but you can also have it serve as a home theater PC, or put it to work with professional photo or audio editing, or turn a group of minis into a server farm. Since the spring event is usually focused on products like the iPad and Apple Watch, we will probably see more computer hardware news at its June event, the World Wide Developers Conference. The Mac mini has always been Apple’s most flexible desktop computer. We will find out soon enough, as Apple has already sent out invitations for its Peek Ahead event taking place March 8th. It’s also been reported previously that Apple is going to be focusing heavily on the Mac in 2022, so the addition of a highly sought after small tower and monitor would jive with that notion. They just want a powerful desktop, like in the old days when Apple sold normal tower versions of its computers. Second, for years Apple users have been asking for something exactly like what is described a high-end computer and monitor that isn’t insanely expensive, because there are a ton of photo and video editors out there that don’t need something made for Pixar engineers, and also don’t want or need a laptop like the MacBook Pro. The first is noted Apple reporter Mark Gurman has mentioned them previously, and he has a strong track record overall. These rumors ring true to us for a few reasons. #DO I NEED TO USE A APPLE MONITOR FOR MAC MINI PRO#Given the specs and rumored size, we’d bet on a more expensive display with the Pro Display XDR holding its price. Alternately, Apple might position this as an even high-end display potion. Since then, Apple has only offered the ultra-luxury Pro Display XDR, which is too expensive for anyone but the most demanding video editor to consider. A decade ago Apple had its Cinema displays, but it stopped selling them in 2011 to many people’s chagrin. If these rumors are true, it might mark Apple’s return to offering (somewhat) reasonably priced monitors. Monitors this size are useful to professionals working in photo and video editing. It’s possible that Apple will ship a 36-inch panel or larger. That is a notably higher resolution than its current Pro Display XDR, which is a 32″ 6K monitor with a 6016 x 3384 resolution. Information regarding the upcoming Studio display is a bit less clear at this time, with 9to5mac saying all its sources would tell it is that it’ll be a 7K panel.
